The Mathematics Education Department offers two undergraduate programs: Elementary Mathematics Teaching and Mathematics Teaching. The first program, Elementary Mathematics Teaching, aims to train qualified teachers for the middle school level (grades 5-8), while the second, Mathematics Teaching, aims to train teachers for the high school level (grades 9-12).
These programs aim to develop teachers equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to conduct educational and teaching activities in the field of mathematics education. They aim to train teachers with strong communication skills, who think creatively and insightfully in the field of mathematics education, and who can follow and apply developments in their field.
Individuals who choose Mathematics Education Teaching should first and foremost love the teaching profession and children, be patient and tolerant, excel in communication with people, enjoy teaching, and have an interest in mathematics subjects.
Individuals who graduate from this program are awarded the title of Mathematics Teacher.
Graduates of the Mathematics Education Department can work as teachers in state schools, private schools, and various courses.
The Elementary Mathematics Education Program, under the Mathematics Education Department, was approved by YÖK (Council of Higher Education) and has been accepting students since the 2017-2018 academic year. The Mathematics Teaching undergraduate program is not accepting students.
